Dear Diary,

Determined to make today a better day than yesterday, I decided to reorient my brain to the story. The attempt to paint Tonya Meiers’ portrait bombed terribly, but I am fairly ok with the pencil drawing of her. Hate the hair, but I’m not sure how to fix that.

I think it’ll be a good idea for me to draw all the characters in this style. I’ve never bothered with that for characters in a short story, but I enjoy doing it and I do generally think it helpful when I’m in the writing zone. I’ll be immersed in that later today. I’ve got ideas.

Getting word this week that a friend’s days are now numbered is disorienting. It is sad and stupid and I wish I could stop it, but I can’t. It’s really happening.

My dad has asked me yesterday to write something I can contribute to a project he’s putting together, which I’m happy to do. Not sure what as yet, but I have some ideas.

See you tomorrow,

KC
